The Si828x family (Si8281/82/83/84) offers isolated, high-current gate drivers with integrated system safety and feedback functions. These devices are optimized for driving Silicon Carbide (SiC) FETs, power MOSFETs, and IGBTs in various inverter and motor control applications. Leveraging Skyworks' proprietary silicon isolation technology, they achieve up to 5.0 kVrms withstand voltage (UL1577) with superior performance, temperature stability, part-to-part matching, and common-mode rejection compared to other isolation technologies. The integrated DC-DC controller simplifies the implementation of isolated driver-side power supplies. Available in configurations with or without integrated power switches, the Si828x family supports adjustable frequency, soft-start, and shutdown capabilities, requiring minimal passive components and a miniature transformer. The devices feature complementary digital inputs and digital control/feedback signals on the isolation side, providing driver-side power and fault state information and enabling fault recovery via a reset pin. The output side offers separate pull-up and pull-down pins, a dedicated DSAT pin for desaturation detection and controlled shutdown, and an integrated Miller clamp for robust turn-off.
