Product Overview

The Si875x family of isolated FET drivers enables the creation of custom Solid State Relays (SSRs) by integrating robust isolation technology with an SSR FET driver. It generates its own self-contained gate drive output voltage, eliminating the need for a floating secondary side DC power supply. When paired with a customer-selected external FET, a complete SSR is formed, allowing optimization for cost, PCB area, power, On-Resistance, and thermal performance. The Si875x offers a choice of digital input control (Si8751) or diode emulation control (Si8752) and supports driving AC or DC load configurations. It replaces bulky mechanical relays, mitigating assembly difficulties and switching noise. Unlike traditional SSRs with optocoupler-style LED inputs that limit operating temperature, the Si875x supports full industrial and automotive temperature ranges with increased stability and longer life. The devices drive FET gates with a nominal 10 V using minimal input current, with faster turn-on times achievable at higher input currents. The Si8751 features flexible input voltages and an Active Miller Clamp to prevent unintended FET turn-on due to high dV/dt. Qualified to AEC-Q100 and boasting a 2.5 KVrms isolation rating, the Si875x is suitable for automotive applications and certified to UL, CSA, VDE, and CQC standards. Applications include motor control, valve control, HVAC relays, automotive charging, battery monitoring, and AC mains line switching. The Si8751 and Si8752 are available in ROHS-compliant SOIC-8 packaging.
