They consist of a Gallium Aluminum Arsenide LED and a silicon phototransistor housed in a miniature surface mount hermetic leadless chip carrier. These devices are ideal for applications where board space and device weight are critical design considerations. The HC240 and HC242 are identical except for their current transfer ratio.
