The Broadcom HCPL-314J family of devices comprises AlGaAs LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage, specifically designed for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs in motor control inverter applications. These optocouplers offer a high operating voltage range suitable for gate-controlled devices and are ideal for directly driving small to medium power IGBTs. They feature a 0.4-A minimum peak output current, high-speed response with a maximum propagation delay of 0.7 s, and ultra-high Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMR) of 25 kV/s. Applications include isolated IGBT/power MOSFET gate drives, AC and brushless DC motor drives, inverters for appliances and industrial use, Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS), and Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS).
