Product Overview
Broadcom high gain series optocouplers utilize a Light Emitting Diode (LED) and an integrated high gain photodetector to achieve exceptional current transfer ratios. These optocouplers offer separate pins for the photodiode and output stage, enabling TTL-compatible saturation voltages and high-speed operation. For conventional photodarlington operation, the VCC and VO terminals can be tied together. A base access terminal allows for gain bandwidth adjustment. Models like the 6N139, HCPL-0701, and HCNW139 are designed for CMOS, LSTTL, or other low power applications, guaranteeing a minimum current transfer ratio of 400% over a 0 to 70C range with only 0.5 mA of LED current. The 6N138, HCPL-0700, and HCNW138 are optimized for TTL applications, offering a minimum CTR of 300% for 1.6 mA of LED current, enabling operation with 1 TTL Load using a 2.2 k pull-up resistor. Applications include ground isolation for various logic families, low input current line receivers, high voltage insulation, EIA RS-232C line receivers, telephone ring detectors, and 117Vac line voltage status indicators.
