Product Overview

The HCPL-0700, HCPL-0701, HCNW138, HCNW139, 6N139, and 6N138 are series of low input current, high gain optocouplers. These devices utilize a Light Emitting Diode (LED) and an integrated high gain photodetector to achieve a high current transfer ratio (CTR) between input and output. They offer TTL compatible saturation voltages and high-speed operation. The photodetector's separate pins allow for TTL compatible saturation voltages and high-speed operation. The VCC and VO terminals can be tied together for conventional photodarlington operation, and a base access terminal enables gain bandwidth adjustment. The 6N139, HCPL-0701, and HCNW139 are designed for CMOS, LSTTL, or other low power applications, guaranteeing a minimum 400% CTR over 0 to 70C with only 0.5 mA of LED current. The 6N138, HCPL-0700, and HCNW138 are primarily for TTL applications, offering a 300% minimum CTR over 0 to 70C for 1.6 mA of LED current, enabling operation with 1 TTL Load using a 2.2 k pull-up resistor. Applications include ground isolation for logic families, low input current line receivers, high voltage insulation (HCNW139/138), EIA RS-232C line receivers, telephone ring detectors, 117 V ac line voltage status indicators, and low power systems.
