Product Overview

The HCPL-x710 optocouplers, available in HCPL-7710 (8-pin DIP) and HCPL-0710 (SO-8) packages, leverage advanced CMOS IC technology for high performance and low power consumption. These optocouplers are designed for digital fieldbus isolation, AC plasma display panel level shifting, multiplexed data transmission, and interfacing with computer peripherals and microprocessors. They require only two bypass capacitors for complete CMOS compatibility, featuring a CMOS logic input signal that controls an LED driver IC, which then supplies current to a high-speed LED. The integrated detector IC includes a photodiode, a high-speed transimpedance amplifier, and a voltage comparator with an output driver. They offer high-speed operation up to 12 Mbd with excellent common mode rejection.

Application Information

The HCPL-x710 optocouplers are designed for ease of use with direct CMOS logic connection. Two bypass capacitors (0.01 F to 0.1 F) are recommended, with total lead lengths not exceeding 20 mm. Recommended PCB layout is provided in the datasheet. Propagation delay, pulse-width distortion, and propagation delay skew are guaranteed specifications critical for parallel data transmission and fieldbus networks.
